I hope that the change in pricing the Panama Canal is really well planned. we all know the value of the Panama Canal and its service to the shipping and maritime communities, and, indeed, to global trade.

In a national referendum held last October, which the people of Panama favorable vote to its plan of investing $5bn, that is a sum equivalent to the country’s total annual budget for an expansion of Panama Canal and the surrounding tax-free trade zone just north of the city of Colon.

In continuing hunt for cheaper goods like North American retailers and consumers, the manufacturing prowess and export activity of South American economic powerhouses like Colombia and Brazil grows. Perhaps the canal gets busier and Panama gets richer.

Here's how the Panama Canal works: Torrential downpours batter the country's forests during rainy season; the water is absorbed into the watershed and feeds steadily into massive, human-made Gatun Lake; the lake then feeds water into the canal.

Here's the problem: Half the forest in the watershed surrounding the canal has been lost to slash-and-burn agriculture and logging, and the deforested land doesn't hold water well.

Truly we should work on this retaining the Panama Canal Watershed! "Without the water," says one canal guide, "we would be the biggest ditch in the whole world."

We got to work on this people!

Hello..

Taking trip in Panama Canal is very exciting, and if you're anything like my wife -- all set to take her first Panama cruise that very moment I ask her for a vacation-- there's one big question distressing your soul: "What would be the best cruise to get on board?"

After reading the information from others, M/V Sea Voyager would be our first cruise in first visit to Panama.I am afraid to make a big mistake; but I hope I would feel much better when we'll get on board. I can truthfully appreciate if there'll be more comment to read on this post.

thanks!

My wife and I are 51 years old.We left Cartagena at 3:00 p.m. sailing for the Panama Canal. We arrived in Limon Bay at the Caribbean entrance to the Panama Canal at about 6:50 a.m. The bay narrows into a discernable channel much like a funnel. We were very fortunate in that it did not rain during our transit. It is an awesome sight to be on either side of the three locks and look at a ship on the opposite side seeing it sit so far above or below your position! It was such a great moment to have a chance to enjoy breath taking scenery..

You could have the unique and once-in-a-lifetime chance to jump aboard one of the many fantastic cruise ships and set sail along the length of the Panama canal, preferably between December and April.one of the best cruise that runs the 64 passenger is MV Sea Voyager through the canal and then continues along the Pacific coast of stunning Costa Rica. An expedition on board the Sea Voyager around Panama is an adventure replete with rewards thanks to the biological diversity and unique opportunities it presents.

We Cruise the Panama Canal some years ago and our cruise includes Mexico, costa Rica and Jamaica. Cruise lines pat attention to the mountains and make adjustments. Cruising in Panama was great and safe. We tour from the ship that included a train ride across Panama to the Pacific Coast, a tour from the ship that included a train ride across Panama to the Pacific Coast.
